About Friends of Big Rock

Friends of Big Rock is a community of craft beer appreciators whose members are passionately engaged with Big Rock Brewery (headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and their brands – most notably, Grasshopper, Traditional Ale, Warthog and Pale Ale and when inspired, spread their beer discoveries with others in their social circles and networks and collaborate with Big Rock to build better products, services and insights.

This privacy policy governs the content and programs offered by The Friends of Big Rock including: friendsofbigrock.com website and blog, and all programs, features, content, experiences, rewards and applications offered by The Friends of Big Rock, in connection with its brand sponsor Big Rock and supporting service partner Agent Wildfire and its affiliated sites.

The privacy and security of our site visitors and members is our highest priority. We will never offer any information about you to any outside company unless we receive your prior consent. The Friends of Big Rock have created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the friendsofbigrock.com web site, and all other services and content areas.

Information Collection and Use by The Friends of Big Rock

The Friends of Big Rock collects user submitted information such as name, email address, and age to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to The Friends of Big Rock activities. The Friends of Big Rock also collects other profile data including but not limited to: personal interests, behaviors and attitudes, gender, age, education and occupation in order to match member with content and programs they might find interesting. Your name, user name and/or contest submission(s) may be published on The Friends of Big Rock website as part of these contests.

The Friends of Big Rock also logs non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services, sponsorships and advertisements to our clients.

Friends of Big Rock Profile information including members' pictures, user name, interests, are displayed to our audience in order to provide a personalized face to The Friends of Big Rock community.

If users actively participate in activities, their user name, optional profile and points will be published on The Friends of Big Rock in recognizing their powerful opinion and community status.

Email addresses are used for the purposes of inviting people into new activities, adding users to The Friends of Big Rock network, and to send notifications related to The Friends of Big Rock services (polls/campaign updates). With the exception of inviting friends, adding friends, and notifications, a user's email address is not shared or displayed to other people. Member's full names will never be directly revealed to other members, unless expressly permitted - instead user names (individually determined on member signup) will be accessible.

Invitations and Other Communications to Non-members

The Friends of Big Rock members can invite friends to join the service by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system. The Friends of Big Rock stores the email addresses that members provide so that the respondents may contribute to the members efforts, and also to send reminders to the invitees.  The Friends of Big Rock does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations, invitation reminders (up to two (2) per email address). Recipients of invitations from The Friends of Big Rock may contact The Friends of Big Rock to request the removal of their information from our database.

Use of Cookies

The Friends of Big Rock uses cookies to store visitors' preferences and to record session information, for purposes including ensuring that visitors are not repeatedly offered the same advertisements and to customize newsletter, advertising, and Web page content based on browser type and user profile information. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site. Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post public information to Friends of Big Rock content areas or any other public forums that that information can be accessed by the public and can in turn be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications.

Correcting/Updating or Removing Information

The Friends of Big Rock users may modify or remove any of their personal information at any time by logging into their account and accessing features such as My Big Rock Member Profile and Account Settings.

Email Choice/Opt-out

Members who no longer wish to receive updates or notifications may choose not to by selecting 'Do not send me notification emails' in the user profile 'Account Settings'. Users who do not wish to receive The Friends of Big Rock newsletters may choose not to by selecting 'Do not send me The Friends of Big Rock newsletters' in the user profile 'Account Settings'. All notification emails and The Friends of Big Rock newsletters also include the above instructions for opting-out of those communications in the future.

Third Party Advertising

Ads appearing on this Web site may be delivered to users by The Friends of Big Rock or one of our Web advertising partners. Our Web advertising partners may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad servers may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. The Friends of Big Rock member accounts are secured by member-created passwords The Friends of Big Rock takes precautions to insure that member account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect member information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to member information to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of member account information. Sharing and Disclosure of Information The Friends of Big Rock Collects

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

From time to time we may make changes to our privacy policy. If we make changes, we will post them on our site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it. A User is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on our Web site for 30 days.
